Who is Jordan Ott?

Ott is the new head coach of the Suns, with news of his hire surfacing on Wednesday, June 4.

A native of McConnellsburg, Penn., Ott received his undergraduate degree from Penn State before receiving his master's degree at Michigan State. Notably, Suns owner Mat Ishbia is one of Michigan State's most notable alumni.

Throughout a coaching career that spans over a decade, Ott has garnered a reputation for "offensive and defensive creativity, player development and communication," according to Charania's report.

While Kevin Durant is believed to be on his way out of Phoenix, Suns all-time leading scorer Devin Booker reportedly aided in the hiring process, suggesting a commitment to the franchise through an era of uncertainty.

After a season marred by injury, the Suns finished with a 36-46 record in 2024-25, snapping a streak of four consecutive postseason appearances.
