Alex Ducas became the latest Australian to win an NBA championship this week, joining names such as Luc Longley, Patty Mills, and Andrew Bogut.

The rookie was part of the Oklahoma City Thunder squad who took down the Indiana Pacers, delivering a title to the franchise for the first time in history.

Following the hard-fought seven game series win, OKC has elected to honour Ducas and the members of the Thunder title team in a unique way.

Australian Alex Ducas will be honoured following his team's NBA championship win, with both he and his teammates seeing a day officially named for them.

According to OKC Mayor David Holt, the month of July will feature 20 days named for the members of the Thunder roster, beginning with Clay Bennett Day on June 30, and concluding with SGA Day a month later on July 30.

In amongst these will be Alex Ducas Day, held on July 8, announced by Mayor Holt during the team's Championship parade Wednesday.

Ducas averaged 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.2 assists across 21 appearances this season, and became just the ninth Australian to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
