The Miami Heat have had a rocky season, but Norman Powell deserves praise for his 2025-26 season. He is averaging 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Powell continues to be an elite three-point shooter, averaging 42.1% from behind the arc this season.

Powell has been Erik Spoelstra's most reliable offensive player this season, as Tyler Herro has sat out multiple games due to injury. Bam Adebayo is still a decent offensive player, but his 17.3 points per game average is his lowest since the 2019-20 season.

Powell believes he deserves the All-Star nod

After a strong start to the season, the Heat have plateaued, as they are in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference standings. They have 20-16 this season, which is the same as the Orlando Magic

The Heat have had a lot of good performances this season, but they cannot seem to go on a hot streak that could put them higher in the standings. Of course, they did have that streak at the start of the season, but now, teams are more aware of them and their style.

Miami played a fresh style to start the year, as they wanted to run and gun. Jaime Jaquez Jr. Benefited the most from this, as he thrived as a player in transition. The same can also be said about Powell, who has been running the floor since he was playing for the Toronto Raptors.

Now that he has become such a good three-level scorer, Powell has become one of the Heat's best players. He has earned himself consideration for the All-Star nod for the second year in a row, which he believes should come this season.

"I definitely have made the case, wherein last year, not to get caught up in whether I have to make it or not. I think I deserve to make it. My peers around the league, after games, are telling me I am an All-Star. Hopefully it happens for me this year, but for me, the goal is to go out there and win," Powell said after the victory against the Pelicans.

Powell's All-Star-level performances continued his superb run, scoring 34 points. He shot 9-for-12 from beyond the arc, which encapsulates his ability to catch fire to lead Miami to the victory against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Heat might have a lot of good players on the roster, but Powell is hard to ignore this season. He is determined to help his team win by any means possible, and if that involves him getting an All-Star nod, that is a huge bonus for him.
