Durant can sign an extension in July for $122 million.
If he waits until the calendar flips to 2026, Durant can sign a $124 million extension.
What's $2 million to a guy like Durant? We'll get a chance to find out.
He may also wait just to see what Houston does to build a championship contender around him. Given that he can make a little extra cash while being wisely patient, Durant very well could do that.
Either way, the Rockets will almost certainly look to extend him. You don't trade for a guy like KD without the intention of keeping him around for at least a few years.
Durant's wealthy NBA career is set to make some more money very soon.
