Anthony Davis showed up to the Mavericks' overtime win against the Portland Trail Blazers wearing a Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s jersey while sidelined with a calf strain.
In the NBA, it’s very rare to see players wearing football jerseys. Even NFL stars attending weekend NBA games typically wear their favorite basketball team’s gear.
Then what on earth was cooking in AD's mind that he chose that bold fashion statement? Quite frankly, since the video went public, it has been a million-dollar question.
The Kentucky connection explains Anthony Davis' Packers loyalty
The green jersey choice wasn't a coincidence, though. The video is available online now, captured on the same day as the Green Bay Packers' 27-20 victory over the Giants, with Love throwing two touchdown passes in the road win.
For many Dallas fans already frustrated by AD's extended absence and the franchise-altering Luka trade, the green #10 felt like a middle finger. But the majority of them don’t know the backstory that connects his loyalty to the Packers.

AD holds his Packers fandom to his University of Kentucky days and his friendship with former Packers receiver Randall Cobb.
During Mavericks Media Day, Davis explained, "I wasn't into football when I first got in the NBA, and my head coach at the time, Monty Williams, told me I have to have a football team… Randall Cobb went to Kentucky, so I was just cheering for whatever team he goes to. Been a Packers fan since."
That's 12 years of Packers loyalty from a Chicago native. Not surprisingly, it is quite a painful detail for Chicago Bears fans who see their city's biggest NBA power forward rocking green and gold every chance he gets.
Davis has worn Packers jerseys to their games in the past, including NFC playoff matchups, but this marked the first time he's been spotted wearing one courtside during his own team's game.
The Mavericks announced before tipoff that Davis will miss another week, probably 10 days, extending his absence to at least three weeks.
But fans are already on edge. The 32-year-old has now missed more than two-thirds of possible games since the February trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers. That's a massive setback without any doubt.
Mavs on Sunday escaped with a 138-133 overtime victory behind rookie Cooper Flagg's 21 points. But in the very next game, they put on a flop show against Minnesota Timberwolves.
The brutal part? Their most expensive asset remains stuck in street clothes with no clear return timeline. Whether AD wore the Packers jersey to celebrate their win over the Giants or to hint at his future in Dallas, it led to more postgame chatter than the game itself.
