The basketball god has always had a twisted sense of humor.

Days after getting fired by the Dallas Mavericks, Nico Harrison watched his daughter, Nia Harrison, commit to a college that is right in Luka Doncic's backyard.

Quite frankly, Lakers and Mavs fans cannot ignore this irony.

Nico Harrison’s daughter makes her move into Lakers territory

Nia recently announced the exciting news through her Instagram handle.

She wrote, "I am so blessed and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Southern California! I want to thank God, my family, coaches, and friends for continuously being there and encouraging me to be the best athlete I can be!"

Nico also shared the exciting news on his Instagram handle, penning, "Congratulations @niaharrison_ Fight on ✌️."

Nia’s caption got pure joy from the high school senior. But her dad is the one facing even more embarrassment following her announcement.

The Mavericks fired Nico from the GM position on November 11, but his reputation has been under scrutiny since Doncic's blockbuster trade to the Lakers. Reports said he even received death threats, and “Fire Nico” chants followed him everywhere.

Owner Patrick Dumont wrote in an open letter that the firing "was critical to moving our franchise forward in a positive direction." The 52-year-old has already updated his social media bio to "Unemployed" and "Girl dad."

Days after his firing, he found out his kid is heading to L.A. She'll attend classes minutes from where Doncic practices and plays. She'll walk past Lakers billboards as well.

For the unversed, the USC campus where Nia enrolled is literally right down the road from the Lakers' home arena, Crypto.com.

Harrison traded Luka to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a first-round pick. He bet on defense and championship experience. Instead of Doncic, Dallas wanted AD's two-way dominance but got a 3-10 disaster.

The former GM distanced the 26-year-old guard from Mavs fans, but his daughter intentionally or unintentionally chose to stay near Dončić's backyard.

This mess of coincidence feels almost scripted, and only the basketball god or his chorus of perfectionists can write such a cruel punchline.
