Dirk Nowitzki just made it into another Hall of Fame.

Already a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023, the long-time German international will now also be enshrined in the FIBA Hall of Fame.

FIBA announced on Sunday that Nowitzki is one of eight contributors who will be enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame on April 21 at a ceremony in Berlin. The most accomplished German basketball player of all-time and MVP of both the 2002 FIBA Basketball World cup and EuroBasket 20025, Nowitzki began representing Germany on youth teams in 1995 before going on to become the senior team's all-time leading scorer.

In addition to suiting up for Germany seven times at EuroBasket from 1999 to 2015 (he's EuroBasket's third all-time leading scorer), Nowitzki starred at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he was Germany's flagbearer.

Perhaps his best game in a Germany uniform came at the 2006 FIBA World Cup when he scored 47 points in a triple-OT thriller against Angola to secure passage into the knockout stage. Not only did he hit a game-tying 3 with one second left at the end of the first overtime period, Nowitzki also saved Germany in the closing seconds of the second OT with a pair of free throws to force a third extra period.

Nowitzki is joined on the FIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2026 by Sue Bird, Céline Dumerc, Hedo Türkoğlu, Clarisse Machanguana, Wang Zhizhi, Ismenia Pauchard and coach Ludwik Miętta-Mikołajewicz. Check out FIBA's official release for more information on all of the inductees.

The April 21 enshrinement coincides with the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 draw. Both the enshrinement ceremony and the draw will take place in Berlin at Kraftwerk, a former power plant that has been transformed into a striking event venue.

What is the FIBA Hall of Fame?

The FIBA Hall of Fame, not to be confused with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, honors individuals who have made significant global contributions to the sport.

Created in 2007 and originally located in Alcobendas, Spain, the FIBA Hall of Fame is now located in the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland. It includes over 200 Hall of Famers from 45 countries and five continents.
