Josh Giddey's NBA future may not lie in Chicago, with the Golden State Warriors reportedly interested in the Australian point guard.

Initially expected to be one of the first names off the board in free agency, Giddey's contract situation has turned into a drawn-out saga after the Bulls were unwilling to meet his US$30 million per season asking price.

While many believe that Chicago still intend to bring Giddey back, another contender has now entered the situation in what could be a blockbuster sign-and-trade.

The Golden State Warriors could be ready to make a move for Josh Giddey, with the Bulls point guard yet to re-sign in Chicago.

According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, Chicago and Golden State could complete a sign-and-trade for Giddey and Warriors' restricted free agent Jonathon Kuminga, as both player's contract situations remain unsolved.

"I can report that there have been multiple teams who have reached out to Josh Giddey's representation about having interest in Josh Giddey," Fischer said.

"Golden State is one of them. Golden State would be interested, depending on how the machinations could go in some type of Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga sign and trade, to my understanding.

"The Warriors were prepared on draft night, way back when in 2021 for Jonathan Kuminga to go number six to Oklahoma City, and they were ready to take Josh Giddey number seven.

"But the order, of course, was flipped. Giddey went number six to OKC and the Warriors happily took Kuminga, but there was very much a world where the Warriors would have taken Josh Giddey at number seven if Kuminga was off the board.

"They still have interest in Giddey, generally speaking, but I also have been told that no matter what team it is, of the group that has reached out to his representation about being interested in a sign and trade scenario, there is not a lot of enthusiasm from these rival teams about calling the Bulls front office and working out a sign and trade."

After a rough start to his debut season in Chicago, Giddey came into his own in an impressive way following the All Star break, becoming one of the most exciting young talents in the league as the Bulls made a last-minute run at the post-season.
