Marselles Brown, the father of Celtics star Jaylen Brown, has been arrested in Las Vegas on an attempted murder charge.

The elder Brown was arrested after allegedly stabbing a youth football coach in a dispute over a parking space, according to a report from TMZ. He's scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Quenton Marselles Brown, 57, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 20, after an altercation at All American Park in Las Vegas.

Reports of the stabbing came in just before 6 p.m. local time, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The police added that two people were arguing over a parking spot when the suspect, Brown, stabbed the victim in the stomach, per FOX5 Las Vegas.

A witness said the incident occurred before a football practice scheduled to be held in the park.

Brown reportedly fled the scene but was located and arrested shortly afterward. According to TMZ, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for surgery. Las Vegas police said the victim is recovering successfully from injuries sustained in the attack, but his family has provided harrowing updates.

The name of Brown's alleged victim is Cross Tupoula, a youth football coach in the Las Vegas area.

Tupoula's team has launched a fundraiser for the coach, claiming the family needs help with physical therapy and medical care. Per the police report, Tupuola suffered  "upper right chest clavicle area, a defensive wound on his left hand that penetrated his tendons, a slice wound that necessitated a partial gastrectomy to remove part of his digestive system, eviscerated bowels, and a broken right rib that may require surgery to repair."

Representation for Brown claimed he was acting in self-defense.

Brown, who goes by his middle name, Marselles, is a retired professional boxer. His son, Jaylen, shares the same middle name, though the two are not believed to have a close relationship.
