Merab (21-4) is on a fourteen-fight win streak dating back to 2018. The Georgian fought at the beginning of October, beating Cory Sandhagen to defend gold.
A former bantamweight champion, Yan (19-5) lost against Merab in 2023 after the latter landed eleven takedowns and 147 significant strikes. The Russian has since won three straight, including one fight in 2025.
A win against Yan would make Merab the first champion in UFC history to successfully defend his title four times in a calendar year.
