For the first time in six years, Israel Adesanya is no longer in the UFC middleweight's top five rankings.

Following Fight Night Vancouver, Brendan Allen's stoppage victory over former One Championship title holder Reinier de Ridder propelled him four spots up the middleweight ladder, pushing Adesanya out.

It marks a striking changing of the guard for a fighter once viewed as the division's untouchable king.

The 36-year-old's drop comes after a difficult stretch that began with his 2023 loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 293, where he lost the middleweight title in a shocking upset.

The former champion returned in 2024 to face Dricus Du Plessis for the belt at UFC 305, only to suffer the first submission loss of his career.

In early 2025, his troubles deepened when he was stopped by Nassourdine Imavov in his first non-title bout since fighting Anderson Silva back in 2019.

For a fighter who once owned the division, the slide has been jarring.

Allen's rise, meanwhile, highlights the pack of hungry contenders making their way through the 185 pound weight class.

His dominant performance at UFC Vancouver has elevated him into the title picture with several high-profile matchups in his future.

Adesanya's achievements remain monumental; since joining the UFC in 2018, he's captured the middleweight title twice, defended it five times, and produced some of the promotion's most iconic performances.

But the question now looms: what is next for 'The Last Stylebender'?

His legacy is secure, but the path forward is uncertain. Adesanya has hinted at returning after some time off - a possibility could be the upcoming UFC Sydney card in the first quarter of 2026.

Even outside the top five, Adesanya remains one of the sport's most magnetic figures - and his influence on the game is undeniable.
