It was a short night at the office for Quillan Salkilld who scored one of the most brutal knockouts of 2025 in the preliminary card headliner at UFC 321.

It took the 25-year-old Aussie just two and a half minutes to get the job done against Nasrat Haqparast with a vicious head kick.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier reacted instantly to the moment saying, "that was one of the craziest high kicks I have seen in a long time."

Salkilld fights out of Luistro Combat Academy in Perth and has put the UFC's lightweight division on notice in his first three bouts in the promotion.

After the fight, Salkilld commented on the unconventional circumstances and adversity that he had to navigate for this bout to go ahead in the first place.

"I’m just happy to be here," he said in the post-match press conference.

"10 days notice, 13 kilogram [weight] cut, wicked opponent, [it was] a big step up for me.

"For it to end like that I think I definitely deserve a bonus."

He was indeed rewarded with the bonus, adding $50,000 to his pay check in what turned out to be a very lucrative night out.

As for what's next, Salkilld seems intent on continuing to build his resume in the UFC, but ultimately has his sights set on the big fish in the division.

"A ranked opponent next in the top 15 would be great," he said.

"I understand that it’s only my third fight [in the UFC], but my eyes are on the rankings."

A quick turnaround to fight again on the rumoured event in Sydney reportedly in the works for February 2026, could be the ideal place to add another finish to his record in front of a parochial home crowd.
