Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will be on the mound for Texas on Friday night against the New York Mets. This game will be played at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, and this will be the first time that deGrom returns to Citi Field as a member of the Rangers.

Before leaving the Mets in 2022, he played nine seasons in New York before signing a five-year deal with Texas. When he was with the Mets, he won a couple of Cy Young awards for the National League. Injuries have also been a major problem throughout his career. In 2025, it appears as if he finally returned to form with Texas.

There are a lot of Mets fans who are actually excited to see deGrom take the mound on Friday night for Texas. Pitching for New York will be rookie Jonah Tong. The Rangers starting pitcher said to Kennedy Landry of mlb.com,

"I’m excited to go and pitch at Citi Field. That’s where I started my career, so it holds a special place in my heart -- their alumni game is going on there too so some guys I came up with will be there as well, it’ll be an all-around cool experience."

There is no doubt that this is a big series for the Rangers and the Mets. They are both in the midst of a playoff chase. So far this season, deGrom has a 11-7 record with a 2.68 ERA. In 155.2 innings pitched, he has given up 110 hits and 48 runs. He has also walked 35 batters and has struck out 169 batters. DeGrom has pitched in 27 games this season for Texas.

Earlier this season, deGrom went to the all-star game, and it was the fifth time in his MLB career he has achieved that. It would be a surprise if Mets didn't give deGrom a standing ovation on Friday night at Citi Field before he takes the mound.
