The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 on Thursday night. With the loss for the Mets, they have lost six straight games.

The Mets recorded is 76-71 and they lead the San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds by 1.5 games for the last wild card spot in the National League. New York is potentially on the verge of collapsing and missing the playoffs. The Mets will begin a three-game series against theTexas Rangers on Friday night. New York fans are concerned entering the series against Texas and they have expressed frustration about David Stearns during the 2025 MLB season.

New York Mets Fans Call for David Stearns to Be Fired Ahead of Texas Rangers Series

Stearns has been getting a lot of heat from the Mets fanbase over the second-half collapse. He made horrible trades at the trade deadline. Cedric Mullins and Ryan Helsley have not performed well since being acquired at the trade deadline. Stearns has also put together a horrible starting rotation and has relied upon rookies to save him.

If the Rangers were to sweep the Mets this weekend, Stearns seat is only going to get hotter. New York fans will want to see Stearns fired if they miss the playoffs and they show their frustration on Twitter.

Well, there are some fans who believe that manager Carlos Mendoza has hands tied behind his back when it comes to lineup and bullpen decisions. They have not liked his decisions, but Mendoza is frustrated with the results. Stearns did not give him much pitching to work with. There is a reason why the Milwaukee Brewers are thriving without him.

Even though the Mets made it to the NLCS last season, there are major questions about Stearns in the Mets front office moving forward. Many fans also believe that Juan Soto and Pete Alonso being signed last offseason had a lot to do with owner Steve Cohen and not necessarily Stearns.

Stearns did well with the Brewers, but he is operating the Mets like a mid-market team. If New York were to miss the playoffs this season, fans are going to want to see someone running baseball operations in the front office like Theo Epstein.
