2025 Cup winnings revealed
A total prize money pool of $10 million will be up for grabs in the Melbourne Cup this year, up from $8 million in 2024.
The connections of the winning horse are set to pocket $4.5 million.
Winnings are typically split between the owners (85 per cent), trainer (10 per cent) and jockey (5 per cent).
As for the physical prize, the jockey, trainer and owner of the winning horse will receive their own version of the Melbourne Cup trophy.
