The 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup is here, and this year looks set to be one of the most hotly contested races in recent history.
Weather, increased weights, and incredible form lines from all over the world have the betting markets scrambling for a true favourite.
This year, however, it is the female brigade who look set for a successful attack on the race that stops the nation, with three female jockeys competing.
This year offers some of the women's best-ever chances to match Michelle Payne’s unbelievable winning effort on 100/1 outsider Prince Of Penzance in 2015, where Payne became the first and only Melbourne Cup winning female jockey to date.

AllSportsPeople has all the female jockey information for this year's Cup below.
Jamie Melham, Half Yours
Just a couple of weeks ago, Jamie Melham became the first female jockey to win the Caulfield Cup aboard Half Yours—the current favourite for today's Cup—and there's no reason why she can’t make it two in a row.
Melham (formerly Kah) has won nearly every major race there is in Australian racing, and the Melbourne Cup has eluded her, but this might just be her best chance yet.
Half Yours is also the only Australian horse in the race, which would make the victory just that little bit sweeter for Melham.
Rachel King, Arapaho
The oldest horse in the field at nine years old, Arapaho has experience that not many other horses possess.
He is a proven winner over 3200m, having won the Sydney Cup earlier this year, and Rachel King knows this horse better than anyone.
They have had 23 rides together for six victories (all listed races or group-level wins) and another five placings.
Celine Gaudray, Torranzino
Celine Gaudray will make her debut in the Melbourne Cup aboard Torranzino, a horse she steered to victory just two weeks ago in the Geelong Cup.
Whilst Gaudray and Torranzino may not have the resumes of other jockeys and horses in this race, they are in winning form together and anything can happen as a bottom weight.
“It is so surreal,” Gaudray said to racing.com after her Geelong Cup victory, which gave her a Melbourne Cup golden ticket.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I watched the Melbourne Cup – as does everybody else – and to get a ride is unbelievable and this horse really deserves his spot.”
