The stakes are always high at the Ryder Cup, so are tensions.
That was the case on Saturday afternoon between Bryson Dechambeau, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, along with some caddies.
Here's exactly what happened and why it caused quite the stir at Bethpage Black Golf Course.

Why did Dechambeau and Fleetwood get into argument?
During a Saturday four-balls match between the pairings of Fleetwood/Rose and DeChambeau/Scottie Scheffler, an incident occurred on the 15th green.
It started when Justin Rose reportedly had an issue with something DeChambeau's caddie did. After a series of dramatic putts from both sides to halve the hole, tensions flared as the players walked to the next tee, with DeChambeau and Fleetwood exchanging words in a heated spat. Caddies also got involved before the situation was diffused by Fleetwood's caddie.

After the match, Rose said he was annoyed with how they were taking too long to do their green calculations while he was about to step to his shot.
On the United States side, Dechambeau and Scheffler declined media availability.

Who is Bryson Dechambeau's caddie?
Bryson DeChambeau's current caddie is Gregory Bodine, whom he hired in mid-2023. Bodine has been instrumental in DeChambeau's recent career success, including winning the 2024 U.S. Open and multiple LIV Golf events.
Bodine took over the bag at the LIV Golf Tulsa event and was a vital part of DeChambeau's victory at LIV Golf Greenbrier, where DeChambeau shot a remarkable round of 58. Their most notable joint triumph is the 2024 U.S. Open, where Bodine's presence and perspective were cited as instrumental in DeChambeau's ability to navigate the demanding final round.
Before teaming up with DeChambeau, Bodine had a notable career caddying on the PGA Tour, most prominently for Tony Finau from 2014 to 2020. DeChambeau has publicly credited Bodine, noting that the caddie helps keep him calm and provides a balancing personality to his own intense, analytical nature on the course.

Who is Tommy Fleetwood's caddie?
Tommy Fleetwood's caddie is Ian Finnis.
Finnis and Fleetwood's relationship began in 2016, following a period where Fleetwood was struggling with his game. Finnis, who had previously worked as an assistant professional at Formby Hall near Fleetwood's hometown, initially agreed to take the job on a temporary basis. However, the connection proved successful, helping Fleetwood to a significant return to form.
This partnership has since yielded multiple victories on the DP World Tour, including the 2017 Race to Dubai title, and they were a key part of Team Europe's success in the 2018 and 2023 Ryder Cups. Their most recent major triumph together came in August 2025 with Fleetwood's win at the Tour Championship.
In early 2024, Finnis was forced to take a hiatus from caddying after a serious infection in his heart led to the need for open-heart surgery. During his recovery, Fleetwood had to use temporary caddies, including local Augusta caddie Gray Moore at the 2024 Masters and David Clark at the PGA Championship. Finnis, who is known for his great height and popular, good-natured character on tour, made a remarkable return to Fleetwood's side a few months later.
