Tottenham targets 'statement signing' under Thomas Frank with Premier League star image

Tottenham Hotspur’s new era under Thomas Frank may be about to start with a bang — and possibly with a big checkbook.

The club is now reportedly eyeing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as their third signing of the summer, as per The Guardian.

Frank, who recently took charge at Spurs after his successful time at Brentford, has already seen one familiar face linked with the club — Bryan Mbeumo.

But with Manchester United making strong moves for the Brentford star, Spurs may be shifting their focus elsewhere. And that “elsewhere” comes with goals, flair, and a £68 million release clause.

Spurs have long admired Eze, and now they believe the England international could be open to joining them in north London.

After all, he’s already shown a knack for scoring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — just ask their own backline.

Why Tottenham wants Eberechi Eze?

Eze, 26, was one of the Premier League’s standout performers in the final stretch of last season.

He scored nine goals in his last 13 matches, including two in a 2-0 win over Spurs and the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. That kind of form doesn’t go unnoticed — especially when you’re doing it in style.

Eze is represented by CAA Base, the same agency as Spurs players Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and Pape Sarr. That could smooth any talks between the clubs.

Eze can play out wide, as a No. 10, or even as a second striker — a true Swiss Army knife in football boots. That flexibility, plus his recent form, makes him a strong candidate to replace Son in long-term, with the South Korean captain’s future still uncertain.

Tottenham have already signed Mathys Tel permanently from Bayern Munich and agreed a deal for young defender Kota Takai.

But bringing in Eze would be more than just a squad boost — it would be a statement.
