Real Madrid fans may have to hold their breath a little longer when it comes to Vinícius Jr’s future.
The Brazilian star is reportedly frustrated with the lack of progress in talks over a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Despite a strong start to the season, his role under coach Xabi Alonso and his wage demands have left the club in a tricky spot.
The 25-year-old has two goals and two assists in his first five La Liga games but has rarely played a full 90 minutes.
He was even benched for Real Madrid’s Champions League opener against Marseille.
Sources (via journalist Marcos Benito) in Spain claim Vinícius is unhappy with the situation and could consider a January move if nothing changes. His current deal runs until June 2027, but discussions on an extension have reportedly stalled.

Big clubs on alert as contract talks drag on for Vinícius Jr
According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Vinícius wants wages closer to what Kylian Mbappe earns.
Real Madrid, however, are reluctant to meet those demands. The forward is also said to be worried about his importance in the team, especially with Mbappe’s arrival reshaping the attack.
Alonso has publicly insisted that the Brazilian remains key to his plans, but uncertainty continues to grow.
Saudi Arabian clubs are believed to be circling, with Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad all reportedly ready to make record-breaking offers.
Premier League heavyweights like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation. Any move would command a massive fee, with Vinícius’ release clause currently set at an eye-watering £870 million.
Vinícius joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 and has since become a cornerstone of their success.
With 108 goals, 85 assists, and a trophy cabinet that includes two Champions League titles and three La Liga crowns, his importance is clear.
But as contract talks remain frozen, the January transfer window could test Madrid’s resolve.
