Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Man City midfielder Rodri in the summer of 2026 with reports from Los Popes describing the move as already “closed” despite no confirmation from either club.

The Spaniard who was crowned 2024 Ballon d’Or winner after guiding City to Premier League win and Spain to the European Championship has been linked with Madrid for several months.

Although previous approaches were reportedly denied by the Man City but the latest report from the Spain emphasize that the Spanish midfielder could head onto Santiago Bernabeu next year.

His potential arrival could reinforce a Los Blancos midfield and continue a long tradition of marquee signings at the Santiago Bernabeu from Cristiano Ronaldo to Luka Modric.

Rodri’s contract at City currently runs until 2027 yet his influence has become so central that losing him would represent big shift for Pep Guardiola’s squad particularly given his match winning displays against Inter Milan in the 2022/2023 Champions League final and France in the Euro 2024 semifinal.

The Madrid hierarchy view him as the long term anchor who could forge a partnership with Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde to form a midfield capable of dominating Europe for the next decade.
