Carlo Ancelotti's son reveals 'danger' in being Real Madrid's head coach image

It’s never quiet at Real Madrid — and Davide Ancelotti has just confirmed that from the inside.

After four years beside his father, Carlo, at one of football’s most high-pressure clubs, Davide has opened up on life in the Bernabeu hot seat.

Speaking to El Partidazo de Cope (via Sport), the former assistant coach shared what it’s like working with his father, the challenges of managing stars like Vinicius Jr., and the daily pressure of coaching at Real Madrid.

Now coaching Brazil alongside Carlo, Davide looks back on their Madrid exit as a natural one.

“As the final games of the season approached, we knew our paths were going to separate,” he said. “We knew from the press, from the feelings, and from what my father talked about with the club.”

He admitted that leaving Real Madrid on good terms is rare — and this was the right time.

Still, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Davide revealed the constant sense of tension that came with the job. “At Real Madrid, you feel like you’re in danger every day. That’s the essence of this club,” he explained.

The worst moment? Easy. “The most complicated moment was the 0-4 against Barça in 2022, it was a hard and unexpected blow,” Davide recalled.

Davide Ancelotti reveals why Carlo was 'tough with' Vinicius Jr?

Managing talent is tricky. Managing a fiery talent like Vinicius Jr.? That takes more than tactics.

Davide admitted Vinicius was sometimes hard to handle, but they always stood by him. “Vinicius has helped us win two Champions Leagues and many games,” he said.

“My father sometimes had to be tough with him because he knew he needed it, but we always tried to be by his side.”

From handling Clasico nightmares to helping shape superstars, the Ancelottis certainly had their hands full. With their next chapter in Brazil, it’s clear their bond — and experience — will be key once again.

And in case you were wondering — when asked if he'd rather naturalize Mbappe or Lamine Yamal for Brazil, Davide didn’t hesitate. “Mbappe,” he said. No tiki-taka around that answer.
