After a chaotic offseason filled with club collapses, new managers, and plenty of uncertainty, the A-League Men 2025–26 season is finally ready to kick off.
Western United’s 'hibernation' status and the league’s continued financial growing pains have done little to shake the faith of diehard fans, who now turn their attention to the pitch with cautious optimism. This season also carries extra weight, with the 2026 World Cup looming, giving local stars and rising prospects alike every reason to shine.
Amid the drama, storylines abound. Can reigning champions Melbourne City defend their crown under Aurelio Vidmar? Will Macarthur’s star-studded squad finally live up to its dark horse billing? Can Adelaide’s homecoming hero Craig Goodwin spark a revival, or will Tony Popovic’s unbeaten Australia-inspired momentum spill over to the Wanderers’ campaign?
Add a first full season for expansion darlings Auckland FC and a brewing Kiwi rivalry with Wellington Phoenix, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable, youth-fueled seasons in A-League history.
The Sporting News looks at the key fixture details and how to follow the matches.
