Melbourne City have received a big boost for the remainder of the 2025-26 A-League men's season, signing former player Daniel Arzani on loan.

Arzani started out his senior career at Melbourne City, before moving to City's affiliate club Manchester City in 2018.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed multiple stints in the A-League since, with both Macarthur FC and Melbourne Victory, but is now returning back to where it all started, on loan from Hungarian Club, Ferencvárosi TC.

Arzani joins City after a struggling for game time with Ferencvárosi, who he joined in June 2025.

The 11-time Socceroo is excited about his return.

“City is where my professional career started, so to be coming back here is something I’m
really excited about," he said.

“I’ve grown a lot since my first time at the Club and I’m excited to bring that experience back into this group.

“The goals for this season are clear, and I’m looking forward to doing my part to help the
team push deep into finals and on the continental stage.”

Arzani will look to impress as he makes a push for selection at international level, with the Socceroos' World Cup campaign getting underway later this year.

Meanwhile, after 14 games City currently sit fifth on the A-League table, just four points back of first-placed Auckland.
