Socceroos vs. Colombia live score: Commentary, updates and highlights from Australia's friendly image

The Socceroos set to play its second friendly during the November international window against CONMEBOL heavyweights Colombia in Queens, New York.

Tony Popovic’s Socceroos continued preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup last Saturday, suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Venezuela in Houston.

Currently ranked 13th in the world, Colombia qualified directly for next year’s FIFA World Cup after finishing third in the South American qualifiers. They defeated Mexico 4-0 and drew with Canada 0-0 during last month’s international window, before snatching a late 2-1 win over New Zealand in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday.

21st min: Yellow card!  Aiden O'Neill is the first player to be booked tonight, after bringing down Colombian captain James Rodriguez. Not a lot in it if we're being honest.

20th min:  Some beautiful control from Aspirlla allows him to fire a shot on goal, but it's right at the chest of Paul Izzo, who makes his first save of the game.

19th min:  Australia's defence have looked solid so far, picking off any attacks Colombia have looked to make so far. Colombia continuing to apply the press to the Australian defenders.

12th min:  Colombia have had possession mostly so far. Plenty of touches for their defenders as they look to break down the Socceroos.

2nd min:  Colombia aren't taking the Socceroos easy! Some early pressure being applied on the Aussie defenders by the Colombian forwards. The Socceroos play it around the back and clear the danger.

Kickoff:  We are underway (after some delay, finally)!

10 mins to kickoff:  Players set to come out. Play will kickoff on the other side of the anthems!

30 mins to kickoff:  Colombia' squad is in, and they're not going to be taking it easy on the Socceroos. Australia will have to deal with Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez in attack, while trying to get the ball past Camilo Vargas in goal.

45 mins to kickoff:  It's expected to be a cold night in Queens, New York, but rain isn't expected to come until well after the game, so at least it'll be dry for the players. Not a bad night for the long sleeves, though.

60 mins to kickoff:  Tony Popovic's side will be looking to snap this losing streak early, as they now enter today's match against Colombia with back-to-back losses to their name. After the disappointing defeat to Venezuela where Popovic's relatively inexperienced side didn't show much life for most of the game, Australia's boss has made five changes for today's match.

As one of the top-ranked sides in the world, Colombia boast quite an accomplished squad heading into the friendly against the Socceroos.

After the side's 2-1 win over New Zealand, Daniel Munoz has had to withdraw from the friendly against Australia due to family reasons. Still, there isn't a shortage of talent in this squad, which includes the likes of James Rodriguez, Luis Diaz, Jhon Ariaz, Yerry Mina, Camilo Vargas and more.

Colombia squad:  Alvaro Angulo, Jhon Arias, Santiago Arias, Yaser Asprilla, Rafael Santos Borre, Johan Carbonero, Jorge Carrascal, Kevin Castano, Jhon Cordoba, Carlos Cuesta, Luis Diaz, Carlos Andres Gomez, Jefferson Lerma, Jhon Lucumi, Yerry Mina, Johan Mojica, Alvaro Montero, David Ospina, Juan Camilo Portilla, Gustavo Puerta, Richard Rios, James Rodriguez, Davinson Sanchez, Luis Suarez, and Camilo Vargas.

After the disappointing loss to Venezuela, it would be expected that coach Tony Popovic will look to roll out a more experienced side against Colombia, as preparations for next year's World Cup heat up.

On Saturday against Venezuela Popovic debuted four new Socceroos, including Patrick Beach in goal who looked fairly impressive in net despite not keeping a clean sheet. Unknown Manchester United talent James Overy  is still yet to debut, but could be an ace up Popovic's sleeve.

Defender Jack Iredale from Hibernian is the other man in the squad yet to have a cap for the Socceroos.

Socceroos squad:  Max Balard, Patrick Beach, Martin Boyle, Cameron Burgess, Miloš Degenek,, Craig Goodwin, Jason Geria, Nestory Irankunda, Jack Iredale, Paul Izzo, James Overy, Paul Okon-Engstler, Aiden O'Neill, Connor Metcalfe, Riley McGree, Lewis Miller, Cameron Devlin, Nicholas D'Agostino, Mohamed Toure, Al Hassan Toure, Kye Rowles, Kai Trewin, Callum Elder, Mat Ryan.
