Socceroos star Mathew Ryan has delivered a goalkeeping performance for the ages, making a spectacular double save for his LaLiga club Levante overnight.

The moment came in the closing stages of Levante’s 3-0 upset win over Seville, delivering the battling Valencia-based club its first league win since November.

Turning back the clock, Ryan initially saved a Seville penalty with his feet after making a full-stretch dive to his left, before making an even more impressive reflex stop on the follow-up shot, this time to the right, despite his body facing the opposite direction.

Despite the win, Levante continues to languish in second-last place in LaLiga, five points adrift of safety.

Things don’t get any easier either, with Ryan and his teammates set to face fifth-placed Espanyol and second-placed Real Madrid in their next two matches.

Now 33, Ryan joined Levante on a free transfer from French club Lens at the start of the current season, after previously spending a frustrating 2024-25 season on the bench at AS Roma in Serie A.

Ryan has made 101 appearances for the Socceroos since making his debut in 2012 and is hoping to lead Australia to the 2026 FIFA World Cup which would be his fourth World Cup tournament.
