Socceroos star Jordan Bos has become the first Australian to win player of the month in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 22-year-old - playing left-back for Dutch giants Feyenoord - was given the award after an impressive September.

Under the tutelage of Robin van Persie, Bos' performances were tracked by Opta performance data, which ranked him the best player in the competition for the month.

Bos scored his first goal for Feyenoord - a strike that also won goal of the month - while he provided an assist and created more chances (7) for team-mates from open play than any other defender.

Feyenood kept two clean sheets with Bos in their back four, while the Aussie also won 25 duels, ranking him third in the league, while contributing six successful tackles and 16 ball recoveries.

The team is currently top of the Dutch Eredivisie, level on points with PSV, who have played an extra match.

Feyenoord will next be in action on Sunday night at 11:30pm (AEDT) as they host Utrecht in the league.

Bos has also been selected in the Socceroos squad for the upcoming friendlies against Canada on October 11 and USA on October 15.
