Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr future in doubt as new contract put on 'hold' image

Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Al Nassr may not be as locked in as it once seemed. Just weeks ago, the club and the star forward had reportedly agreed on a new deal.

As per reports (via TEAMtalk), that extension would have seen him stay in Saudi Arabia until 2026 and earn around €200 million next season.

But things have changed — fast.

Ronaldo, now 40, was expected to lead Al Nassr into one final big push. The plan was clear: stay competitive, lift trophies, and make a final World Cup run with Portugal in 2026.

However, Al Nassr’s recent crash out of the AFC Champions League has raised serious questions. Not just from fans — but from Ronaldo himself.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is now reportedly asking to delay the contract. He wants clear signs that the club is serious about winning, not just spending.

Where could Cristiano Ronaldo go next?

Sources close to the forward say he’s unhappy with how the season has gone. Despite his 91 goals in 103 appearances, the club hasn’t delivered silverware. And at this stage of his career, Ronaldo isn’t sticking around for second place.

With the new deal on hold, the transfer rumor mill is heating up. A report out of Brazil says Palmeiras — who will play in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup — have their eyes on Ronaldo.

The Brazilian giants are said to be ready with a big-money offer, though nothing official has been confirmed.

Still, the idea of Ronaldo in Palmeiras green, chasing one last global trophy while Messi lines up for Inter Miami, has football fans buzzing. As one Brazilian coach put it: “If he came, you can't say no to a star like that.”
