How the Carabao Cup semifinals work in 2025/26

The semifinals are played across two legs with each team getting one home and one road match. The team winning the aggregate score will advance to the final at Wembley on March 22.

There will be extra time in the EFL Cup semifinals and final, meaning if the aggregate scoreline is level at the end of the second leg, an additional 30 minutes will be played before a potential penalty shootout is required. Previous rounds of the EFL Cup saw matches level after 90 minutes progress straight to penalties. The away-goals rule does not apply in the semifinals.

Additionally, there will be VAR for the semifinals and final.
