The first ever Australian Championship final is set to be contested by the Marconi Stallions and South Melbourne, after both teams won their semi-final matchups on Saturday.

Marconi booked their spot in dominant fashion, although the 1-0 scoreline didn’t tell the full story.

Marconi starved Moreton City of chances for most of the contest, but didn’t get on the scoreboard themselves until the 80th minute, when Matej Busek found the back of the net.

Meanwhile, South Melbourne also won through with a 1-0 scoreline, surviving a penalty awarded to Heidelberg United, before Manny Aguek put them in front in the 72nd minute.

The final is set for next weekend, although dates and times are still to be confirmed.
