Mason Mount’s move to Manchester United was supposed to be a turning point — for both the club and the player. But two years and several injuries later, it hasn’t gone to plan.

Signed from Chelsea in a £60 million deal, Mount arrived with high hopes and a glowing reputation. He was known for his work rate, versatility, and football IQ.

Coaches like Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel once called him a manager’s dream. But at United, he’s spent more time on the treatment table than on the scoresheet.

Mount has featured in only 30 league matches in two seasons. That’s not what United fans had in mind when they saw the No. 7 shirt handed to the England international.

Still, football doesn’t forget talent — and neither does Ruben Amorim.

The new manager is backing Mount to bounce back, and this could finally be the season we see the real Mason Mount.

Speaking earlier this year, Amorim said, “I really love Mason Mount. I see him and know how he suffered. I know how he does everything right — he eats right, his physical aspect is perfect… We need players like Mason Mount.”

Amorim’s trust could be the spark Mount needs. The 26-year-old ended last season on a high, scoring twice in the Europa League semifinal against Athletic Bilbao.

He’s reportedly been injury-free this pre-season and even got minutes in games against Leeds and West Ham.

Mount’s preferred role is further up the pitch, and Amorim seems willing to let him play there. But competition will be fierce.

Bruno Fernandes remains first-choice, and new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo will fight for similar spots.

Mount, though, isn’t backing down. “I’m feeling really good. I feel like I’m in a really good place at the moment. I’m so excited for the start of the season,” he told club media.

His body looks ready. His mind seems clear. And with Amorim’s faith behind him, Mason Mount might just turn his Manchester chapter into a comeback story worth shouting about.
