Manchester United did not have an ideal start to the 2025-26 campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture.
The Red Devils have managed only one win in the three league games so far, and to make matters worse, United suffered a humiliating 12-11 loss on penalties to EFL League Two club Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup last month.
After the defeat against the fourth-tier English side, Man United head coach Ruben Amorim told Sky Sports,
"I know that the best team won, the only team that was on the pitch. The best players lose, because one team can win against any group of players. I think the team and the players spoke really loud today. That's it. We lost. The best team won."
Amorim's public criticism of his squad raised questions about his demeanor, and ahead of their Premier League match against Burnley, the Portuguese manager candidly admitted being 'disappointed with everything' and said,
"Sometimes I want to quit, sometimes I want to be here for 20 years. Sometimes I love to be with my players. Sometimes I don't want to be with my players. I need to improve on that. It is going to be hard," as per Sky Sports.

"I know that when I speak these things, to be really honest, every time that we have a defeat like that, I will be like that. Sometimes I hate my players, sometimes I love my players - this is my way of doing things. I am going to be like that. In that moment, I was so frustrated."
"You have experienced people talking about the way I should perform with the media, to be more calm. I am not going to be like that. I am trying to accept that and I am going to be who I am, that's why I have the passion I have. In that moment I was disappointed. We had a good pre-season and were playing better. That kind of performance, I was really disappointed with everything. But now it is a new game."
Man United bagged their first win of the season against Burnley (3-2), and concerns about their chances continued, along with doubts about Amorim's future at Old Trafford. Now, former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas stated that he doubts whether the 40-year-old coach will still be in charge of the Red Devils till Christmas.
What did William Gallas say about Ruben Amorim's future at Man United?
Gallas stated that Amorim 'looks lost' while claiming that Man United are 'one defeat or one bad performance away from a crisis' and told Gambling Zone,
"The problem for Ruben right now is that he looks like he's struggling for the solution on the bench. He looks like he's trying to figure things out for the first time, trying to make them play better somehow. He looks lost. I don't think his body language and manner, his emotional response, gives a great impression to his players and the fans of Manchester United," as per GOAL.
"Looking at him, I don't know if he will make it to Christmas, to be honest, because it feels like United are one defeat or one bad performance away from a crisis."
While the uncertainties prevail, Amorim & Co. will be making the trip to the Etihad Stadium to face City in the first Manchester derby of the season on September 14.
