Roy Keane has slammed one of Manchester City's stars after his display in England's 3-1 friendly loss to Senegal.

Speaking after the match, Keane referred to Kyle Walker as 'lazy,' while pointing out the 35-year-old's error in the build-up of Senegal's opening goal by Ismaila Sarr.

Things have not gone well for Walker in the 2024/25 season. After falling behind in Pep Guardiola's pecking order, the defender reportedly wants to make a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with six months left on his contract.

Walker joined AC Milan on loan from City in January for the remainder of the season, with the deal including an option for a permanent move. However, the Serie A giants decided against activating the clause, and he's returned to Manchester.

With several reports suggesting he will leave this summer, Walker has been excluded from City's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Now, Keane has criticized Walker's attitude, specifically his lack of effort on the pitch.

What did Roy Keane say about Kyle Walker?

While speaking on ITV, Keane mentioned [comments via Manchester Evening News] that even though Walker is a 'vastly experienced player', he 'can’t be bothered getting back.'

"Do you know what, if this was a young right-back starting out in the game you’re thinking inexperience, but do you know what I think? People maybe say a lack of concentration, I think he’s being lazy," he said.

"He’s a vastly experienced player and just can’t be bothered getting back. As you know, you tell defenders all the time, ‘get back in’. If it comes in, you’re ready for it, he’s just on his heels and can’t be bothered getting back.

"I know he’s had a difficult few months, but for an experienced player you can’t make mistakes like that."

While Man City prepare to face Wydad AC in their first match of the Club World Cup on June 18, it remains to be seen what's next for Walker, with Saudi Pro League touted as his most likely destination.
