Liverpool are considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano next summer as his contract situation continues to attract major clubs.
According to Senior football journalist Graeme Bailey, the 26-year-old Frenchman is firmly on Liverpool’s radar.
The Reds failed to secure Marc Guehi in the summer window. Arne Slot side had reached an agreement with Guehi and Crystal Palace, yet the transfer collapsed late which left them short of defensive depth.
Liverpool remain committed to strengthening their center-back options with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate struggling with continuity and younger defenders have yet to show they can handle sustained Premier League responsibility.
Upamecano is viewed as an ideal solution with the Frenchman making more than 150 appearances for Bayern Munich after arriving from RB Leipzig during the summer of 2021 and his reputation has only grown stronger this season with him delivering an outstanding performance against Chelsea in the Champions League which showed his ability to dominate at the very highest level.

However, Liverpool are not alone in this pursuit. According to few reports- Real Madrid are also monitoring Upamecano as they plan for defensive reinforcements under Xabi Alonso.
Madrid are also linked with Liverpool Centre-back Ibrahima Konate, whose contract with Reds is set to expire in 2026 and the French player has shown no desire to extend his contract at the Merseyside.
Upamecano wants Real Madrid move
According to the Marca, Upamecano has privately expressed interest in joining Real Madrid if the option materializes, with his agent testing possibilities.

However, according to the report, while Los Blancos are open to exploring Upamecano as a future option they continue to identify alternative players who could reinforce Xabi Alonso’s developing squad.
