Alexander Isak finally became a Liverpool player on transfer deadline day on September 1, 2025.

Newcastle United issued a terse statement to confirm they had accepted a British-record transfer bid had been accepted for the player, whose determination to force a move to Anfield had become the dominant storyline of the transfer window.

A deal worth a reported £125 million ($169m / €144m) was concluded on Monday, but Isak will have a little while to wait before playing with his new teammates for the first time due to the international break spanning the next two weeks.

Below, The Sporting News looks at when Isak will make his Reds debut, and his first appearances as a home player at Anfield.

When will Alexander Isak make his Liverpool debut?

Liverpool's first match back in action after the international break is away to Burnley on September 14. That will be Isak's opportunity to make his debut.

Arne Slot's side have won all three of their Premier League games this season and are the only team in England's top flight to maintain a 100% record in 2025/26.

Isak's home debut could come against Atletico Madrid in their opening Champions League league-phase encounter on September 17.

The 25-year-old could play his first Premier League game at Anfield as a Liverpool player when Everton visit for the Merseyside derby on September 21.

When do Liverpool play Newcastle?

Isak's first scheduled opportunity for a reunion with his former club is when Newcastle visit Anfield in the Premier League on January 31.

Newcastle have already hosted Liverpool this season, losing 3-2 as Anthony Gordon was sent off and the Isak saga supplied an incendiary backdrop.

Before the January game on Merseyside, it is feasible that Newcastle and Liverpool could draw one another in either the Carabao Cup or FA Cup.

It's a fixture in which Isak enjoyed plenty of success when wearing the black and white stripes. His game-clinching goal in last season's Carabao Cup final was one of four in six appearances against Liverpool.
