Chelsea striker Marc Guiu endured a rollercoaster summer transfer window as he was first sent on loan to Sunderland before being called back by the Blues on deadline day.

Enzo Maresca’s team were forced to recall the Spaniard after Liam Delap picked up a hamstring injury against Fulham before the international break.

It is being reported that Guiu has reacted professionally to his recall by Chelsea and is eager to contribute to the team’s cause this season.

The striker is not set to compete with Joao Pedro for the number nine spot at Chelsea on his return.

Guiu, who scored one goal in three games during his brief Sunderland loan, knows Enzo Maresca’s system well after playing in the Blues’ first team last season.

However, he will hope for more opportunities because he only made 16 appearances across all competitions in his debut year with Chelsea.

He reportedly really wants to make a strong impression in training at Cobham, and it is stated that the club will give him a fair number of opportunities going forward this season.

Reportedly, Maresca always believed in Guiu’s abilities even before sending him out on loan last month. However, the duo are now back working together, a lot sooner than anticipated.

Chelsea will get a chance to keep their promise to the striker after the international break, as they face a jam-packed schedule with one game every three days across competitions.
