Barcelona face late transfer twist as Premier League club circle La Masia star image

Barcelona’s transfer window could yet have a dramatic final act, with Premier League interest growing in young midfielder Marc Casado.

The 21-year-old, who broke into the first team last season, has caught the eye of several clubs despite limited minutes this campaign.

Reports in Spain (via Marca) suggest Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United are tracking Casado as the deadline looms. Wolves in particular are said to be weighing up a move after strengthening other areas earlier in the summer.

West Ham are also keeping tabs, apparently considering him as part of their midfield rebuild.

Casado made 41 appearances for Barca last season, including a full shift in the Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

But with Frenkie de Jong back fit, and Pedri and Gavi also ahead of him, his opportunities have dropped sharply. To make matters tougher, Marc Bernal is close to returning, leaving Casado further down Hansi Flick’s list.

Barcelona would reportedly consider a sale if an offer near €30 million arrives. For a club still walking the Financial Fair Play tightrope, cashing in on homegrown talent could be tempting.

Should Barcelona sell Marc Casado this summer?

That is the question Flick and the board face. On one side, Casado is a La Masia product, loved by fans and determined to fight for his spot.

Sources (via SPORT) close to the player say he has no intention of leaving, and he has already rejected interest from other teams earlier in the window.

On the other side, the Catalans are in constant need of balancing the books. Selling Casado would provide breathing space and funds for future moves.

Wolves and West Ham may not be Champions League regulars, but they could offer Casado minutes, responsibility, and the chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

For now, Barcelona hold the ball at their feet. Whether they decide to pass it on for €30 million or keep Casado battling for midfield minutes remains to be seen. Either way, this late twist ensures Barça’s window won’t be ending quietly.
