Barcelona star calls out Hansi Flick over 'unfair' squad role image

Hansi Flick's first season in charge of Barcelona ended with a spectacular 2024/25 trophy treble.

On the back of winning all four El Clasico showdowns with arch El Clasico rivals Real Madrid, Flick secured the La Liga title, alongside the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup.

The former Bayern Munich boss harnessed the incredible talent of teenager Lamine Yamal - alongside fellow rising stars Pau Cuabarsi and Pedri - with the experience of Inigo Martinez and Robert Lewandowski.

A frustrating semi final loss to Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League was the only negative mark against Flick in an otherwise dominant campaign.

With consistency the key for Flick, the German coach opted for only limited squad changes throughout the season, with seven players starting 75% of their league games, which led to reduced chances for others.

Spain U21 star Pablo Torre was one of those left out in the cold and the 22-year-old revealed he's requested answers over the situation.

What has Pablo Torre said on Barcelona future?

Torre impressed on loan at Catalan neighbours Girona last season, and did enough to convince Flick to bring him back for the 2024/25 season, but he made just four league starts with three La Liga goals scored.

The Cantabrian-born midfielder will play a key role for Spain's U21 side at this summer's UEFA European Championships in Romania - but his club future looks uncertain.

"We had a chat [Flick and I] and he told me it was difficult to get playing time. In the end, you hope to make the most of every minute you can," as per reports from Marca.

"Football is full of injuries, you have to be ready. It was a decision I made with my people, parents and my agent.

"There's a lot of competition, and it's difficult to get in, but I think it wasn't fair in that regard, I told the manager that when we spoke.

"When I played, I was very good, and I think I deserved much more. I think he could have made better decisions.

"Right now I'm focused on the Euros. I'm very motivated, it's been a while since I've been this motivated. Let's see what happens."

Torre's current Barcelona contract runs until June 2026, and this summer could be Barcelona's final chance to secure a transfer fee, with several La Liga sides rumoured to be interested in a £6m [$8.5m] deal.
