Barcelona were on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in their second match of the 2025/26 Champions League on October 1 at Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

Ferran Torres opened the scoring for the hosts from an assist by Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford in the 19th minute. PSG's equalizer came with Senny Mayulu's goal after being set up by Nuno Mendes in the 38th minute.

Goncalo Ramos netted the winning goal for the reigning champions from an assist by Achraf Hakimi in the 90th minute.

Despite their loss, Barcelona were able to set an impressive new scoring record on Wednesday. The Catalan club have now scored in each of their last 45 matches in all competitions, netting a total of 127 goals, according to OptaJose.

This has been their best scoring streak in Barcelona's history, surpassing the Spanish side's previous record of 44 matches, which spanned from November 1942 to February 1944.

Speaking after the match, Barca head coach Hansi Flick shared his thoughts on his squad's display against PSG, candidly admitting that the opponents 'deserved to win.'

What did Barcelona boss Hansi Flick say?

While addressing the press in his post-match conference, Flick heaped praise on PSG, mentioning that his squad 'played much better in the first half than in the second,' and said,

"We played much better in the first half than in the second. We conceded too much because we were tired. The truth is that PSG is a great team; they have very young and fast players, and they played a fantastic game," as per Barca Blaugranes.

"We didn't play at our best, and against an opponent like that, it's necessary. They deserved to win."

Flick & Co. will now face Sevilla next in their eighth La Liga clash of the season on October 5 at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
