Barcelona enter race for Serie A star as potential Lewandowski replacement image

Barcelona have had a rocky start to the 2025/26 season with consecutive defeats against PSG and Sevilla heading into the international break.

The players are breaking down with injuries as they unable to maintain their optimal fitness whilst playing in Hansi Flick's aggressive high line system.

Apart from fitness, Barcelona are also looking to improve on their resources upfront as they are planning a succession for Robert Lewandowski.

The 37-year-old is showing some signs of age catching up to him and even injuries haven't been kind to him in recent times.

Therefore, according to reports via Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have shown interest in Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic as he is available for free transfer from next summer.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has been in touch with the Serbian striker's agent since August and will contact him once again as they genuinely believe in his qualities as a striker.

Why are Barcelona chasing for Juve star Vlahovic?

Vlahovic moved to Juventus in January 2022 for a whopping €80m transfer fee making him the most expensive signing in the Serie A back then.

He established himself at Fiorentina where he scored goals consistently and earned a name for himself which eventually paved the way for a Juventus transfer.

However, as years have gone by, the Serbian striker has grown out of favour with Juventus as they were eager to sell him this summer for some funds, but his high salary demands meant no club were interested in the 25-year-old.

His current contract comes to an end next summer which allows him to open talks with other clubs from this January window.

With Lois Openda and Jonathan David joining Juventus this summer, Vlahovic's time at Turin is coming to an end.

Despite the situation, he has scored four crucial goals for the Bianconeri this season in eight matches, proving his worth as a striker.

Apart from Barcelona, Bayern Munich are also in the race to sign the Serbian striker as he has all the qualities needed to be a top player.

He has great goalscoring instincts and continues to be a menace in the penalty area with his physical prowess, sharp movement and overall finishing instincts.

Overall, Vlahovic would be an ideal player for Barcelona replacing Lewandowski, considering he is available for free next summer but he is expected to have multiple suitors.
