Wessel Nijman picked up his second PDC title of the year on Thursday, after an 8-5 victory against Luke Woodhouse in the final of Players Championship 34, as the Pro Tour season concluded at Wigan’s Robin Park Leisure Centre.
Nijman, the winner of PC30 earlier in October, went all the way once again as the Dutch star reached the final firstly by recording victories against Callan Rydz, Rhys Griffin, Maik Kuivenhoven, Adam Paxton, Kevin Doets and Chris Dobey, to set up a clash with Woodhouse.
The final began with four straight holds of throw between the pair, before the first break came from Woodhouse in Leg Five with a 12 darter to move 3-2 ahead in a race to eight. The tie then saw three straight breaks of throw, before back-to-back holds of throw as the pair were level at 5apiece following 10 legs played. Nijman then took complete control of the remainder of the final as the Dutchman rattled off three successive legs and sealed the victory in Leg 13 with a 14 darter to pick up a third senior PDC title as well as the £15,000 top prize.
Woodhouse’s run to yet another ranking final saw the Englishman record victories on the day against William Borland, Florian Hempel, Joe Cullen, Karel Sedlacek, Keane Barry and William O’Connor, before being denied the chance by Nijman to clinch a long-awaited maiden ranking title.
Elsewhere, there were Quarter Final runs for Former World Matchplay Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh and two-time winner on the Pro Tour in 2025 Jermaine Wattimena, whilst the likes of Top Seed Stephen Bunting as well as a trio of Former World Champions in Peter Wright, Rob Cross and Michael Smith were amongst the high profile first round casualties.
Following the conclusion of PC34, the 64-player field for the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals was confirmed, with Former World Champion Gerwyn Price heading to Butlins Minehead as the Number One Seed, after a successful Pro Tour campaign, which saw the Welshman pick up four Players Championship victories. Places were also secured at the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship via the Pro Tour Order of Merit, with the last chance for Tour Card Holders who missed out being at the PDPA Qualifier on November 24th.
