Brendan Doggett will make his debut in the First Ashes Test against England, receiving his Baggy Green to become Australia’s first fast-bowling Test debutant in four years.
But who exactly is he?
Born in Rockhampton and raised in Toowoomba, the right arm paceman began his first-class career with Queensland in 2017-18 and has called South Australia home since linking with the Redbacks for the 2021-22 season.
In 50 match first class matches he has accumulated 190 wickets at a career average of 26.46.

Last summer, Doggett took 33 Sheffield Shield wickets at 23.18, including a match-winning 11 wicket haul as South Australia defeated his former state Queensland in the final.
In three Shield matches so far this season he’s already taken 15 wickets—form that ultimately brought him to the front of Australia’s fast-bowling selection queue following injuries to Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.
A carpenter by trade, Doggett, 31, is Australia's first fast-bowling debutant since fellow Ashes squad member Scott Boland took 6-7 at the MCG on debut against England in the 2021-22 Ashes series.
Adding another layer to Doggett’s journey into Test cricket, he is a proud descendant of the Worimi people and will become just Australia’s third Indigenous Test cricketer when he takes the field against England in Perth.
Doggett will make his Test debut alongside Tasmanian opening batsman Jake Weatherald, with recalled Marnus Labuschagne set to bat at his preferred number three.
