WATCH: Sam Konstas changes role against England in Ashes bid image

As Sam Konstas continues to bid for re-selection in Australia's test side, he's taken up bowling in his latest match.

On Sunday, Konstas suited up for the Prime Minister's XI against a travelling England side.

The Prime Minister's XI batted first, with Konstas opening the batting and providing 36 runs from 53 balls, before he was dismissed by Tom Haines.

It was a solid knock for the 20-year-old who is looking to earn his spot back in the Australian top order, with a potential opening on the horizon as veteran Usman Khawaja continues to battle injury.

But it was Konstas' role in the second innings of the match that caught most people by surprise.

Konstas was handed the ball, and bowled one over, going for a relatively economical six runs, although he wasn't able to capture a wicket.

His first ball was an uncontrolled full toss, although he was able to recover and see out the rest of the over without the batsmen doing much damage.

England eventually chased down the required 309 runs, only losing two wickets in the process.
