England have a plan to stop Australian star Travis Head repeating his Ashes heroics in the second Test commencing in Brisbane on Thursday.
Opening the batting in Usman Khawaja's absence, Head smashed 123 from only 83 balls in a match-winning innings that guided the home side to first Test victory in Perth.
There is a possibility Head could again open the batting at the Gabba or return back to his usual no.5 position - with the call likely depending on whether Khawaja is selected.
Regardless of where Head bats, England bowler Brydon Carse was adamant the visitors had a plan to combat the batting gun.

“That was a phenomenal knock played by a high-quality player,’’ Carse told reporters.
“If he does open the batting again, we’ve got set plans that we’ll look to use. I don’t think anything changes from our mindset, he had an incredible day out that afternoon.’’
Carse revealed England had been studying Australia's performances in day-night Test and planned to use some tactics they had seen against the hosts.
“Looking back at a couple of highlights from previous games played in Australia it certainly is very evident how their new-ball bowling goes,’’ Carse said
“With the new ball they strike early and I think that’s going to be important. Whether that’s certain lines that they’re bowling or maybe a touch fuller to let it swing.
“They’ve played some really good cricket with the pink ball. I’d like to say that we’ve had a look at their stuff that they’ve done over the years.’’
