Umpire Chris Gaffaney wasn’t moved.

The Aussies were keen, but not entirely sure.

But following a somewhat reluctant DRS review by Steve Smith, England captain Ben Stokes was ruled out caught behind for a duck on day two of the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

“Was there a noise? Starc doesn’t look so confident,” Adam Gilchrist said in commentary for Fox Cricket as all eyes turned to the video screen.

While replays clearly showed a small audio spike as the ball passed Stokes, yet again the audio and video frames did not fully align, the resulting delay creating confusion for fans and players alike.

Ultimately, the third umpire Kumar Dharmasena asked on-field counterpart Chris Gaffaney to change his decision to out, and Stokes was on his way.

The dismissal was the fifth time Stokes has been dismissed off the bowling of Mitch Starc in this series.

England went to lunch on day two at 6-336, with Joe Root not out on 138.
