Nathan Lyon in doubt for rest of Ashes series after being subbed out of third test image

As a tense third test comes to a close in Adelaide, Australia have potentially been dealt a devastating blow, with star spinner Nathan Lyon subbed off with a suspected hamstring injury.

The 38-year-old made a diving effort to save a boundary at the end of the 77th over, but after returning the ball to the middle of the ground, immediately reached for his right hamstring.

He would come off the ground seconds after.

After missing the second test of the series in Brisbane, Lyon had returned to the Australian side with a vengeance.

As England look to chase down a mammoth target of 435, Lyon had knocked over several key English batsmen, including Zak Crawley, Harry Brook and captain Ben Stokes.

As of midday on day five, Australian captain Pat Cummins was also under a watch, having not bowled since mid-afternoon on day four. Fortunately though, Cummins would re-enter the attack in the 82nd over.
