Marnus Labuschagne has opened up on his spot in the Australian batting order, with his recall to the national test side imminent ahead of the upcoming Ashes tour.

Labuschagne was dropped earlier this year for Australia's three-test tour of the West Indies, after a poor run of form where he was tried at different spots in the lineup, including as an opener.

Fortunately, the 31-year-old has been back to his old ways to begin the Australian domestic season, having scored a century in four of his last six innings for Queensland.

Speaking to Fox Sports on Sunday, Labuschagne discussed his spot in the order ahead of his expected return this summer.

"Wherever the selectors and the coach put me, that's where I'll be batting," he said.

"But I mean I've batted my whole career for Australia at three. So there's nothing more to be said, it's wherever they put me is where I bat.

"There's a few technical things that I've ironed out of my game and had a bit of time to work on. But I think its just more getting probably too deep into my technique stuff and trying to be too perfect instead of just playing with what I've got and just going out there and reading the game and then using my technique to adjust to whatever they're bowling and how they're trying to attack me."

Usman Khawaja's opening partner at the top of the order for the Ashes remains to be seen, with some believing Labuschagne could take the spot despite being unsuccessful at that spot in the past.

In the World Test Championship Final earlier this year, Labuschagne produced scores of just 17 and 22 as an opener, with South African paceman Marco Jansen dismissing him both times.

The Ashes will begin next month at Optus Stadium, where the hosts are set to be without captain Pat Cummins.
