International BBL star's season cut short by injury image

Big Bash fans have seen the last of Shaheen Shah Afridi this season, after a knee injury has ruled him out for the remainder of the Brisbane Heat's campaign.

Afridi suffered the injury on Saturday against the Adelaide Strikers while fielding.

Afridi, who represents Pakistan in international cricket, made the decision in consultation nation's board, as he now turns his attention to the T20 World Cup next February.

The 25-year-old confirmed the news on social media.

"I’m massively thankful to the Brisbane Heat team and fans for showering me with immense love and support," he said.

"Due to an unexpected injury; I have been called back by the PCB and will have to take a rehab.

"Hopefully, I will be back in the fields soon. Meanwhile, I will be cheering for the amazing team."

The Brisbane Heat are one of the favourites for the BBL15 title, currently sitting in fourth place on the table.
