In a huge blow to the reigning BBL champions, Hobart Hurricanes star Tim David will miss the rest of the Big Bash following scans on his injured hamstring.
There are also fears the explosive batsman could miss at least some the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
The 29-year-old picked up the injury while batting in the BBL match against the Perth Scorchers on Boxing Day and is now racing the clock to be fit for the ICC tournament that starts on 7 February.
“Tim David sustained a grade two right hamstring strain during his recent BBL match,” the Hurricanes confirmed on Monday.
“As a result, David has been ruled out for the remainder of the BBL.”

According to the Hurricanes, scans show David‘s rehabilitation timeline means he could still be available for selection for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
David is expected to be named in the Australian squad alongside Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood—who have also been under injury clouds this summer—however whether he is available for Australia’s opening match against Ireland on February 11 remains unclear.
Following the T20 World Cup, David is also set to link with Royal Challengers Bengaluru for another lucrative season in the Indian Premier League which begins on March 26.
