Indian domestic player Akash Kumar Choudhary has re-written cricket’s record books, becoming the first player in history to hit eight consecutive sixes in a first-class match.
Better known as a right-arm seam bowler, the 25-year-old achieved the stunning record playing against Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, India’s domestic first-class competition.
Batting at number eight for Meghalaya, Choudhary began his innings quietly enough with a dot and two singles.
He then launched six consecutive sixes off hapless left-arm spinner Limar Dabi, becoming only the third player in first-class history to hit six sixes in a single over, joining all-time Test cricket legends Sir Garfield Sobers and Ravi Shastri.

Choudhary was far from done mind you, proceeding to smash off-spinner TNR Mohith for back-to-back sixes in the following over to bring up his fifty—the fastest ever scored in first-class cricket, taking only eleven balls.
Remarkably, the half-century came just nine minutes after he arrived at the crease.
Despite his hard-hitting heroics, Choudhary boasts a surprisingly modest first-class batting average of only 14.37.
