Australia vs India: James Pattinson ruled out of third Test following fall at home image

Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has been ruled out of the third Test, after suffering a fall at his home.

The 30-year old is a part of the extended squad for the Test series with India, but has yet to take part in the series.

Pattinson has been 12th man for the opening two games, and was the next bowler in line for a call-up.

The Victorian quick was on approved leave following the second Test at the MCG, when he fell at his home and suffered bruised ribs.

There will be no need to replace Pattinson however, with fellow fast bowlers Sean Abbott and Michael Neser already in the squad.

Cricket Australia will monitor Pattinson's injury before considering him for the final match in Brisbane.
